Where in the World is Rock View? The following maps should help - there is more information lower down. International Air Links to GuyanaThere are frequent flights from the US, Canada, and Europe to the major hubs of the southern Caribbean namely Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago. From either of these points there are regular and frequent services to Guyana. You can fly direct to Guyana from Toronto and New York with Guyana Airways 2000 (GA2000), the newly-privatised national carrier of Guyana. The other main airline linking both North America and Europe with Guyana is BWIA who offer regular scheduled services from Toronto, New York and Miami to Barbados and Trinidad with onward connections to Guyana. American Airlines have indicated their intention to fly to Guyana from June 1999. We will keep you posted. Other airlines offering scheduled services to the Caribbean include British Airways and Air France. Once there, you have a choice of BWIA, GAC, LIAT or Air Caribbean for onward travel to Guyana. There are also scheduled air services between Guyana and Suriname and, most recently, between Guyana and Boa Vista in Brazil. Please contact us or your travel agent for further information and advice. Many charter airlines fly into Barbados, Antigua and Trinidad & Tobago. It is often possible to connect with scheduled services for onward travel to Guyana. Within Guyana...The Rock View Lodge is situated approximately 420km overland from Georgetown in a southerly direction and 120km from Lethem which is on the border with Brazil. It is easily accessible by air from Georgetown by using private charters or regular scheduled flights. The Annai airstrip is just 100 yards from the Lodge! Overland to Annai: Rock View may be reached by land with well-equipped four-wheel drive vehicles that we can arrange for you. This is however for the more adventurous traveler and would require good travel arrangements. Despite the rough terrain and hardships involved (dust in the dry season and mud during the rains), this can be a very enjoyable experience. Rock View is a favourite rest and recreation site for many Four-wheel Drive enthusiasts including those travelling to or from Brazil, Venezuela or further afield on the Pan American Highway. Many use Annai as the perfect base for touring the Rupununi. Visit the Two Tom Cats web site for great images from one such group of Rock View regulars! Flying to AnnaiPrivate air operators offer flights to Annai from Georgetown using a variety of aircraft (various Cessna, Britten-Norman Islander, Shorts Skyvan etc). The size of the travelling party will determine the most appropriate aircraft. Flights are usually from Ogle (Georgetown's municipal aerodrome) but can also be arranged from the Cheddi B. Jagan International Airport (Timehri). Regular scheduled passenger flights are also offered by both Guyana Airways (GAC) domestic services as well as private air operators on all days of the week. The fares vary slightly from one operator to the next but in general are equivalent to approximately US$140 return per person (Annai-Georgetown).
Fares G$28,000 return, G$15,000 single (as of May 2000, at G$180 = US$1)
These prices are intended as a guide (April 1999) and may vary from one
